Audi Debuts R8 Exclusive Selection Editions

Buyers looking to collect a rare automotive gem may want to think of purchasing the 2012 Audi R8 Exclusive Selection Editions. These cars arrive in extremely limited numbers later this month, and will only be available to U.S. customers.

A total of 50 R8 Exclusive Selection Editions will be made, including 20 copies with the V8 engine and 30 with the powerful V10. With such few copies, the R8 Exclusive Selection Editions will be even rarer than the limited-edition R8 GT Spyder available for $210,000.

The Audi R8 Exclusive Selection Editions feature carbon fiber elements as well as special upgrades to the exterior and interior design and materials. Buyers who opt for the V8 exclusive Audi R8 will see an all-new Daytona Gray matte exterior. The version also comes with carbon fiber exterior splitter, R8 GT tail lamps, and 19-inch titanium five arm double spoke wheels. Black exhaust finishes, black grille surround, and red brake calipers also are featured on the exclusive version. On the inside is an exclusive leather package with a Crimson Red theme and contrast stitching, new leather navigation surround, and a contoured leather steering wheel for sportier grip.

The Audi R8 V10 special editions come with a shimmering white Ibis exterior with black accents on the sideblade, exterior mirrors, and rear license plate surround. The exclusive V10 also comes with 19-inch bi-color e-tron wheels. Inside the cabin, buyers can expect Alabaster white contrast stitching and a carbon fiber cockpit. Like the V8 version, the V10 also features a contoured steering wheel, R8 GT tail lamps, and new leather navigation surround.

Both versions of the Exclusive Selection Editions come with a six-speed manual or automated R-tronic transmission. The new exclusive versions also receive the same powertrains as the traditional versions of the R8. The V8 exclusive edition starts at $137,700, or about $23,000 more than the base Audi R8 on the market today. The 525-horsepower V10 exclusive edition starts at $161,500.
