THE 2012 BMW M3 CONVERTIBLE REVIEW

Summary Review by Tess: Sheer Fun on Wheels

The European-influenced styling of the 2012 BMW M3 convertible ensures that it provides ample curb appeal, but it’s the powerful V8 engine under the hood that really sells this peppy four-seater. Fuel economy is a weak point, but the target audience for the BMW M3 is unlikely to be troubled by higher prices at the pump given its steep sticker price. Overall, luxury convertible buyers really can’t do better than the 2012 BMW M3 for performance and pizzazz.

Under the hood
The 2012 BMW M3 convertible is powered by a massive 4.0-liter V8 engine that pumps out 414 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This powerhouse can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds, an outstanding time for a luxury convertible. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and buyers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission and a seven-speed double-clutch automated manual transmission. Fuel economy is below average for a vehicle of this size at 14 miles to the gallon city and 20 on the highway, but the large engine and high performance of the BMW M3 go a long way toward explaining that drawback. Safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, and rollover hoops to shield drivers and passengers against crash impacts.

Inside the cabin
The BMW M3 convertible is available in just one trim level, which comes well-equipped with cruise control, dual-zone climate controls with interior air filters and extended heating, full power accessories including heated exterior mirrors, a ten-speaker AM/FM CD stereo system with auxiliary and USB connections, and Bluetooth compatibility. Options on the BMW M3 include an advanced navigation system, heated front seats, keyless entry, and satellite radio. Buyers can also opt for the cold weather package or premium package for an additional fee.

On the road
The 2012 BMW M3 convertible offers a truly exceptional driving experience with its powerful V8 engine that pumps out acceleration effortlessly. Its state-of-the-art suspension ensures that this sleek four-seat convertible corners and handles beautifully in all road conditions, making it a standout choice for performance-hungry drivers.

Conclusions
With its classic sports car looks and exceptionally powerful engine, the BMW M3 is a convertible worthy of a world-class secret agent. While gas mileage is less than average, the sheer fun this performance car delivers more than makes up for the extra cost at the pump and makes this a favored choice among drivers looking for a truly unique automotive experience.
