THE 2013 HYUNDAI ACCENT SEDAN REVIEW
Summary Review by Tess: A Winner in Its Class
The 2013 Hyundai Accent sedan remains one of the most attractive four-door compact cars on the market. Hyundai has come a long way since its early positioning as a bargain-basement alternative for college students. But today, the automaker is rapidly becoming synonymous with affordable elegance and an ample array of standard features. The Accent lives up to this newfound reputation with sleek exterior lines, refined styling and material choices for the interior, and exceptional gas mileage. Overall, the 2013 Hyundai Accent delivers solid small-scale transportation at a price most buyers can readily afford.
Under the hood
The Accent is powered by a compact 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine that produces 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque. This compact sedan can go from 0 to 60 in under ten seconds, an acceptable time for this automotive class. Front wheel drive is standard and can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic with an advanced fuel-saving Eco mode.
Fuel economy above average for the compact sedan class at 28 miles to the gallon in the city and 37 miles to the gallon on the highway. (See estimated annual fuel costs with the Accent). Safety is a key element in smaller vehicles; the 2013 Hyundai Accent sedan incorporates active front head restraints to prevent whiplash, antilock braking, and stability and traction controls for better handling on all types of terrain.
Inside the cabin
The Accent boasts one feature that is a rarity in its class; it has a usable back seat. The innovative design of this compact sedan allows even taller passengers to enjoy a comfortable ride. The 2013 Hyundai Accent sedan is available only with the GLS trim package, which includes full power accessories, air conditioning, and a deluxe six-speaker stereo system. Optional features include keyless entry, cruise control, and a Bluetooth interface for easier communications along the way.

On the road
The Accent sedan offers surprisingly good performance given its size and automotive class. Its steering and handling are responsive, and the overall effect is of refined finesse. Drivers looking for excitement behind the wheel, however, will need to look elsewhere to find the thrills they seek.
Conclusions
A solid and dependable commuter car, the 2013 Hyundai Accent sedan offers ample interior room and plenty of standard features to please most drivers in this crowded automotive class.
