The Orange County International Auto Show, which ran from Sept. 22-25, offered the public an up-and-close look at some of the most beautiful, famous, and expensive cars in the world.
2006 Gumpert Apollo Supercar
The Apollo Supercar perfectly deserves the title, embodying all the power and artistic gifts of the Greek god who shares its name. This German-engineered car is the very first in its series and comes with a hefty price tag of $595,000. The trim of the interior beautifully matches the tangerine orange exterior of the vehicle. The Apollo boasts a whopping speed of 203 mph. As nimble as it is powerful, this supercar goes from 0 to 60 in just 2.8 seconds.
2006 Saleen S7R
Dubbed “The American Supercar,” the Saleen shown at the OC auto show was the last S7R to be built. Race team ORECA took it for a spin on the racetrack in 2007, earning four first place finishes and the title of overall winner at the 2007 French GT Series. This classic car, featuring all-time American colors, delivers 600 horsepower and goes from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds. Incredibly, the car is valued at almost $1 million.
2006 Hennessey Ford GT1000
This powerhouse, masterminded by Ford, produces an impeccable 1,000 horsepower, contributing to its name. The car goes from 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds and races up to 235 mph. A sleek dark blue exterior gives it a relatively subtle appearance, but the bold white stripes let the supercar show its true personality.
The Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85
This incredibly rare sports car, one of 24, was made with an Audi V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower. The dusk orange exterior is complimented by dark grey panels that shape the supercar’s silhouette. The car was made by premium sports car company Spyker, and C8 models have been owned by stars like comedian Jay Leno. This beautiful version has two seats and is fit for only the most die-hard car enthusiasts.
