Hennessey Makes Souped-Up Jeep Grand Cherokee

by zAutos.com on December 27, 2011

What is faster than a Lamborghini Murciélago, McLaren F1, and the Lotus Esprit?

Apparently a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Hennessey HPE800 Twin Turbo Jeep, a modified version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, delivers 805 horsepower and achieves an impressive 0 to 60 time of 3.1 seconds.

Hennessey Performance, a company known for making cars faster and more powerful, took the Grand Cherokee and added a more powerful engine. The Grand Cherokee’s usual 6.4-liter engine was replaced with a hefty 7.0-liter powerplant and twin turbos.

Hennessey also upgraded the transmission system and included a torque converter upgrade, and a lower sports suspension system. New 15.1-inch Brembo brakes have been fixed on the new Grand Cherokee version as well as lighter alloy wheels, a new fascia, and carbon fiber splitter on the front. The interior sees a custom leather design and an Alcantra steering wheel.

“We’ve built dozens of 600-800 hp Jeep SRT8s over the past five years, so we have an existing client base who will want to upgrade the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 to an even higher level,” the company President John Hennessey said in a statement. “This vehicle is designed for the performance minded driver who lives in Aspen or Moscow and wants to be the fastest in all weather conditions.”

The special Hennessey Jeep will be sold for $235,000 and only 24 units will be made.
