The next sixth-generation Corvette was to see the biggest innovation in lightweight technology in the history of the car. An aluminum-based chassis and large amounts of carbon fiber have reduced the weight of this latest Corvette significantly. On the car’s exterior, carbon fiber can be found on the front fenders, front wheel houses, and rear fenders. On the top-of-the-line Corvette ZR1, carbon fiber can also be found on the roof panel and rocker panels, while the special 427 Collector Edition Corvette Convertible adds carbon fiber on the hood, fenders, and floor panels.
