by Auto News on September 21, 2012

Tesla will add ten stores to its 14 current sites across North America this year as it prepares for increased sales.

The new stores will be located in high-end locations and will resemble elegant retail shops, according to GreenCarReports.com. The first new store opens today at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, N.Y. The store will house interactive exhibits where customers can design their own Model S luxury sedan on a large touchscreen and view their creation on an 85-inch video screen. Some of the new shops will also allow customers to test drive the electric vehicles on site.

A Tesla store in Boston will open next week at Natic Mall, followed by a new site in the Chicago area at Westfield Old Orchard.

More Tesla stores on the East Coast include new locations in Paramus and Morristown, N.J. and a store in McLean, Va. Another store is opening in Miami Beach, Fla.

California will represent the West Coast with two new Tesla stores, including one in San Diego and another in Topanga.

Canada will receive its first location in November when a new store opens in Toronto. Along with expansion into Canada, Tesla is also hoping to debut new stores in countries across the globe in 2013 and beyond.
